Meatballs

Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare Meatball Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. Place the formed meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

  4. 4

    Cook Meatballs

Once the oil is hot, add the meatballs to the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd them. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 5

    Prepare Sauce Base

In the same skillet used for the meatballs, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes, and stir in the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

  3. 7

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the sauce is simmering, gently add the browned meatballs back into the skillet. Cover and let simmer for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the meatballs to cook through.

  4. 8

    Serve

After simmering, check the seasoning of the sauce and adjust if necessary. Serve the polpette warm, garnished with additional chopped parsley and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
