Method
Tomato Sauce Preparation
- 1
- 2
Add Tomatoes
Add the canned whole tomatoes (including juice) into the saucepan. Use a spoon to break them up into smaller pieces.
- 3
Season the Sauce
Stir in the salt, black pepper, dried oregano, and red pepper flakes. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens.
Pizza Assembly
- 4
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) while you prepare the pizza.
- 5
Prepare the Dough
On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness and shape. Transfer it to a pizza stone or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 6
Spread the Sauce
Spread an even layer of the prepared tomato sauce over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- 7
Add Cheese and Salame
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce. Then, layer the slices of Calabrese salame on top of the cheese.
- 8
Bake the Pizza
Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
- 9
Garnish and Serve
Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Garnish with fresh basil leaves before slicing and serving.
