Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Rigatoni

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the rigatoni and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 10-12 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Bolognese Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, diced carrot, and diced celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are soft.

  2. 3

    Add Garlic and Ground Beef

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 4

    Incorporate Tomatoes and Seasoning

Once the beef is browned, add the crushed canned tomatoes, tomato paste, and red wine. Stir in the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  4. 5

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. This allows the flavors to meld together.

  5. 6

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Once the sauce has thickened, add the cooked rigatoni to the skillet. Toss to combine, ensuring the pasta is well-coated with the sauce.

  6. 7

    Serve

Serve the rigatoni with the bolognese sauce in bowls, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese.
