Muddle Sugar and Bitters
In a mixing glass, add the Demerara sugar and Angostura bitters. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to stir and dissolve the sugar with the bitters.

Pour in the bourbon or rye whiskey over the muddled sugar and bitters mixture.
