Peanuts

Method

Preparation

1

Rinse the Peanuts

Start by rinsing the raw peanuts under cool running water to remove any dirt or debris.

2

Prepare the Cooking Pot

In a large pot, combine the rinsed peanuts, 8 cups of water, and 1 tablespoon of salt. If you're using optional seasonings, add them at this stage as well.

Cooking

3

Bring to a Boil

Place the pot over high heat, and bring the mixture to a rolling boil.

4

Simmer the Peanuts

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let the peanuts simmer for 2 to 3 hours. Check for doneness after 2 hours; the peanuts should be tender and flavorful.

Serving

5

Drain and Serve

Once the peanuts are cooked to your liking, drain them in a colander and let cool slightly. Serve warm as a snack, or allow to cool completely and store in an airtight container.
