Method

Preparing Halloumi Fries

  1. 1

    Cut the Halloumi

Slice the halloumi cheese into thick strips, about 1 cm wide.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Coating

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Mix well to ensure even distribution of the spices.

  3. 3

    Coat the Halloumi

Dredge each halloumi strip in the flour mixture, making sure to coat all sides evenly. Shake off any excess flour.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).

  5. 5

    Fry the Halloumi

Carefully add the coated halloumi strips to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Making Chili Jam

  1. 6

    Prepare the Ingredients

Remove the stems and seeds from the red chili peppers and roughly chop them. Mince the garlic clove.

  2. 7

    Cook the Chili Jam

In a saucepan, combine the chopped chili peppers, minced garlic, sugar, and white vinegar. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.

  3. 8

    Simmer

Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens to a jam-like consistency.

  4. 9

    Cool Down

Remove from heat and allow the chili jam to cool before serving.
