Beef Patty

Burger Assembly

Method

Prepare the Beef Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the meat mixture into four equal portions and form each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

Cook the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Pan

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat until hot.

  2. 4

    Cook Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side, until browned. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cover with a lid to help the cheese melt.

Assemble the Burgers

  1. 6

    Prepare the Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Layer Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese. Top with slices of tomato, and add ketchup, mustard, and pickles as desired.

  3. 8

    Complete the Burger

Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately while hot.
