Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into fry-shaped pieces, approximately 1/4-inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the natural oil to 350°F (175°C). Make sure the oil is deep enough to fully submerge the fries.

  4. 4

    Fry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked fries and pat them dry with paper towels. Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.

  5. 5

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Season with salt to taste while they are still hot.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the fries hot with your choice of house-made unique salts.
