Salad Base

Caesar Dressing

Method

Preparing the Salad

  1. 1

    Wash and Chop Lettuce

Rinse the Romaine lettuce under cold water to remove any dirt or debris. Shake off excess water and chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Prepare Croutons

If using store-bought croutons, measure out 1 cup. If making homemade croutons, cube stale bread, toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10-15 minutes until golden.

  3. 3

    Grate Parmesan Cheese

Using a box grater or food processor, grate the Parmesan cheese into a bowl and set aside.

Making the Caesar Dressing

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, add the minced garlic, mashed anchovy fillets, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 5

    Whisk in Olive Oil

Slowly drizzle in the olive oil while whisking continuously to emulsify the dressing until it is well combined and creamy.

  3. 6

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the dressing and adjust seasoning with more salt or pepper if necessary.

Assembling the Salad

  1. 7

    Combine Salad Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the chopped Romaine lettuce, croutons, and grated Parmesan cheese.

  2. 8

    Add Dressing

Pour the Caesar dressing over the salad mixture and toss gently until all ingredients are well coated.

  3. 9

    Serve

Plate the salad and optionally garnish with additional Parmesan cheese or freshly cracked black pepper before serving.
