Method
For the Tiramisu
- 1
Prepare the Coffee Mixture
In a shallow dish, combine the cooled espresso with the dark rum or coffee liqueur. Set aside.
- 2
Whip the Cream
In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the granulated sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
- 3
Combine Mascarpone
In another bowl, gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the whipped cream until well combined.
- 4
Assemble the Tiramisu
Dip each ladyfinger briefly into the coffee mixture, then layer them at the bottom of a serving dish. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and top with the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- 5
Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- 6
Serve
Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder.
For the Coulis
- 7
Prepare the Strawberries
In a blender, combine the fresh strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice. Blend until smooth.
- 8
Strain (Optional)
If desired, strain the coulis through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the seeds for a smoother texture.
- 9
Chill
Refrigerate the coulis until ready to serve.
