Method
Cooking the Pasta
- 1
Cook Cavatelli
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cavatelli pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Preparing the Bolognese Sauce
- 2
Sauté the Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- 3
Add Meat and Garlic
Add the ground beef and pork to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- 4
Deglaze with Wine
Pour in the red wine and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the alcohol to cook off.
- 5
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer the sauce for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combine and Serve
- 6
Mix Pasta with Sauce
Add the cooked cavatelli to the bolognese sauce and gently toss to combine.
- 7
Serve
Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
