Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until well mixed.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, combine eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix well.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in boiling water until the batter is smooth.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cakes

Allow cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and let them cool completely on a wire rack.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Prepare the Cake

Once the cake layers are cooled, place one layer on a serving plate.

  2. 8

    Add Toppings

Drizzle with chocolate sauce and caramel sauce. Add a layer of fresh berries.

  3. 9

    Finish the Cake

Top with the second cake layer, drizzle more chocolate and caramel sauce, and garnish with remaining berries.

  4. 10

    Serve

Serve slices of the cake with a scoop of vanilla gelato on the side.
