Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ribs

Remove the membrane from the back of each rack of ribs. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Make the Dry Rub

In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper until well combined.

  3. 3

    Apply the Dry Rub

Generously coat both sides of the ribs with the dry rub mixture, pressing it into the meat. Wrap the ribs in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).

  2. 5

    Prepare for Baking

Place the seasoned ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, meat side up. Cover the ribs with another piece of foil to keep them moist while cooking.

  3. 6

    Bake the Ribs

Bake in the preheated oven for 3 hours, until the ribs are tender.

  4. 7

    Make the BBQ Sauce

While the ribs are baking, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper in a saucepan. Simmer over medium heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

  5. 8

    Glaze the Ribs

After 3 hours, remove the foil from the ribs. Brush the BBQ sauce generously over the ribs.

  6. 9

    Finish Cooking

Increase the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake the ribs uncovered for an additional 30 minutes, basting with more BBQ sauce halfway through.

Serving

  1. 10

    Slice and Serve

Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for 10 minutes. Slice between the bones and serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
