Method

Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cream Butter and Sugars

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. 3

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

  5. 5

    Mix Dry and Wet Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Spread the Base

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Chocolate Layer Preparation

  1. 7

    Melt Chocolate

In a saucepan over low heat, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and heavy cream. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.

  2. 8

    Spread Chocolate Layer

Pour the melted chocolate over the base batter in the baking pan, spreading it evenly.

Nut Layer Preparation

  1. 9

    Add Walnuts

Evenly sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the melted chocolate layer.

Baking

  1. 10

    Bake the Bars

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  2. 11

    Cool and Cut

Allow the bars to cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before cutting them into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.
