Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meats

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside. In the same skillet, add the ground beef and Italian sausage, cooking until browned. Remove and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Chicken

In the same skillet, add the chicken breast and cook thoroughly, about 6-8 minutes. Shred the chicken and set aside.

  3. 3

    Sauté the Vegetables

Add olive oil to the skillet and sauté chopped onions, minced garlic, diced bell pepper, and sliced mushrooms until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked meats, sautéed vegetables, tomato sauce, oregano, black pepper, salt, and chili powder. Mix until well combined.

  2. 5

    Layer the Mixture

In a baking dish, layer half of the meat mixture. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese on top.

  3. 6

    Repeat Layers

Add the remaining meat mixture on top of the cheese followed by the remaining cheese.

Baking

  1. 7

    Bake the Dish

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  2. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
