Cake Preparation

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease and flour four ramekins or a muffin tin.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Fill Ramekins
Pour the batter into the prepared ramekins, filling them about 2/3 full.

Bake
Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft.

Cool
Let the cakes cool for 1-2 minutes before inverting them onto plates.
Caramel Sauce Preparation

Make Caramel
In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar and water. Cook over medium heat without stirring until the sugar dissolves and turns a golden brown color.

Add Cream and Butter
Carefully add the heavy cream and butter to the caramel. Stir continuously until smooth.

Finish Sauce
Add vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Stir well and set aside.
Candied Walnuts Preparation

Candy Walnuts
Stir constantly until the sugar dissolves and the walnuts are coated. Continue cooking until the mixture thickens and turns a golden color.

Cool Walnuts
Spread the candied walnuts on parchment paper to cool before chopping them into smaller pieces.
Assembly

Serve Lava Cake
Place the inverted lava cakes on dessert plates. Drizzle warm caramel sauce over the top.

Top each cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Sprinkle the chopped candied walnuts over the ice cream and serve immediately.
