Method
Preparing the Mozzarella Sticks
- 1
Prepare the Cheese
Place the mozzarella sticks in the freezer for at least 30 minutes to firm them up. This will help them hold their shape during frying.
- 2
Set Up Breading Station
Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes. Fill the first dish with all-purpose flour, the second with beaten eggs, and the third with a mixture of bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

- 4
Fry the Sticks
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded mozzarella sticks in batches. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Making the Marinara Sauce
- 5
- 6
Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
- 7
Simmer the Sauce
Let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the chopped fresh basil just before serving.
