Pie Filling and Crust
Method
Preparation and Baking
Prepare the Blueberry Filling
In a large mixing bowl, combine the fresh blueberries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and salt. Gently toss the ingredients until the blueberries are well coated. Set aside to let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes.
Prepare the Pie Crust
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Roll out the pie crust and place it into a 9-inch pie dish. Trim and crimp the edges as desired.
Fill the Pie Crust
Pour the blueberry filling into the prepared pie crust. Dot the top of the filling with small pieces of unsalted butter.
Bake the Pie
Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. After that, reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for an additional 30-35 minutes, or until the filling is bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
Cool and Serve
Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the filling to set.
