Method

Baking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven and Ramekins

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and lightly dust with flour.

  2. 2

    Melt Butter and Chocolate

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and semisweet chocolate. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, eggs, and egg yolks until well combined and slightly frothy.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, whisking continuously to combine.

  5. 5

    Add Flour and Vanilla

Gently fold in the flour, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until just combined. Do not overmix.

  6. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 2/3 full.

  7. 7

    Bake

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Let the cakes cool for 1 minute, then carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
