Bread Pudding
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Bread
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Tear the day-old bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.
- 2
Mix the Custard
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking until fully incorporated.
- 3
Combine and Soak
Pour the custard mixture over the torn bread pieces and add the raisins. Gently stir to ensure all the bread is soaked. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
- 4
Bake the Pudding
Grease a baking dish with butter. Pour the soaked bread mixture into the dish and spread it out evenly. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- 5
Serve
Let the bread pudding cool slightly before serving. It can be served warm or at room temperature, drizzled with vanilla sauce.
