For the Tiramisu
Method
Prepare the Coffee Mixture
- 1
Brew the Coffee
Brew strong coffee (about 1 cup) and allow it to cool completely. If desired, add coffee liqueur to the coffee for added flavor.
Make the Mascarpone Mixture
- 2
Whisk Egg Yolks and Sugar
In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.
- 3
Incorporate Mascarpone
Gently fold the mascarpone cheese into the egg yolk mixture until smooth and well combined.
- 4
Whip the Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture. Add vanilla extract and mix until just combined.
Assemble the Tiramisu
- 6
Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
- 7
Layer the Ingredients
In a rectangular serving dish, create a layer of dipped ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- 8
Repeat Layers
Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture on top.
Chill and Serve
- 9
Refrigerate
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
- 10
Dust with Cocoa
Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder using a fine sieve.
- 11
Serve
Cut into squares and serve chilled, enjoying the classic flavors of tiramisu.
