Cake Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 200°C (392°F).
- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) or in the microwave in short bursts until smooth. Stir well and let it cool slightly.
- 3
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and large eggs until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
- 4
- 5
Add Flour and Flavoring
Sift in the all-purpose flour and add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Gently fold the mixture until just combined.
- 6
- 7
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.
- 8
Bake the Fondants
Place the ramekins on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are firm and the center is still soft.
- 9
Cool and Serve
Remove from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute. Invert each ramekin onto a plate, allowing the fondant to slide out. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
