Method

Main Juice

  1. 1

    Prepare produce

Wash all fruit and vegetables thoroughly. Peel the oranges and lemon, remove seeds if visible. Core the apple and cut into quarters. Trim the carrot ends and cut into chunks that will fit your juicer or blender.

  2. 2

    Juicing method (juicer)

Feed the oranges, apple, carrot, and lemon through a centrifugal or masticating juicer according to the manufacturer's instructions. Collect juice in a pitcher. If using ginger, feed it through the juicer as well.

  3. 3

    Blender method (no juicer)

Place the orange segments, apple pieces, carrot chunks, peeled lemon, and 1 cup cold water or coconut water into a high-speed blender. Add peeled ginger if using. Blend on high until smooth, about 45–60 seconds.

  4. 4

    Strain (optional for blender method)

If you used a blender and prefer a smooth juice, pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or nut milk bag into a bowl or pitcher, pressing or squeezing to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard or reserve the pulp for baking or smoothies.

  5. 5

    Adjust and chill

Taste the juice. If it needs sweetness, stir in honey or agave syrup 1 tablespoon at a time until desired sweetness is reached. If it's too concentrated, dilute with additional cold water or coconut water by 1/4 cup increments. Chill in the fridge or add ice cubes to serve immediately.

Optional Flavor Boosts

  1. 6

Mint: bruise the mint leaves gently between your palms to release aroma and either add to the blender before blending or muddle in the serving glass and pour juice over them.

  2. 7

Ginger: add 1 teaspoon peeled fresh ginger to the juicer or blender for a bright, spicy note. Increase up to 1 tablespoon for a stronger kick.

  3. 8

Serving with ice: fill glasses halfway with ice cubes and pour juice over. Stir briefly and garnish with a lemon wheel or mint sprig.
