Ice Cream or Sorbet Base

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare Ice Cream Base

In a mixing bowl, whisk together heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar is fully dissolved. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

  2. 2

Prepare Sorbet Base (if making sorbet)

Blend fresh fruit in a blender until smooth. In a separate bowl, mix the fruit puree with sugar (to taste) and a small amount of lemon juice. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

  3. 3

    Churn Ice Cream/Sorbet

Pour the chilled ice cream base into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency. For sorbet, mix the chilled fruit puree in the ice cream maker until it is smooth and creamy.

  4. 4

    Freeze

Transfer the churned ice cream or sorbet to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours until firm.

  5. 5

    Serve

Scoop 3 scoops of your choice of ice cream or sorbet into a bowl or cone, and enjoy!
