Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Make the Oreo Crust

In a food processor, pulse the Oreo cookies until finely crushed. Mix in the melted butter until well combined. Press the mixture into the bottom and sides of a trifle dish or individual serving glasses. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to set.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Pastry Cream

In a saucepan, whisk together the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and starts to boil. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla extract, and let it cool completely.

  3. 3

    Brûléed Bananas

Slice the bananas and sprinkle brown sugar on top. Using a kitchen torch, carefully brûlée the sugar until it caramelizes and forms a crispy top. If you don’t have a torch, you can broil them in the oven for a few minutes until caramelized.

  4. 4

    Whip the Cream

In a bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Trifle

Layer the Oreo crust, pastry cream, brûléed bananas, and whipped cream in the trifle dish. Repeat the layers until ingredients are used up, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.

  6. 6

    Chill and Serve

Refrigerate the assembled trifle for at least 2 hours before serving. Garnish with mint leaves if desired.
