Prepare the Ingredients
Gather all ingredients and ensure the sauerkraut is well-drained.

Assemble the Sandwich
Spread 1 tablespoon of Russian dressing on one side of each slice of rye bread. On two slices, layer corned beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese. Top with the remaining slices of bread, dressing side down.

Cook the Sandwich
In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Remove the sandwiches from the skillet, cut in half, and serve hot with extra Russian dressing on the side if desired.
