Ingredients for Southwest Chicken Philly Sandwich

Method

Cooking Directions for Southwest Chicken Philly Sandwich

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a bowl, combine the chicken breast, blackening seasoning, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Cook the Chicken

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked. Let it rest, then slice.

  3. 3

    Caramelize the Onions

In the same skillet, add a bit more olive oil if needed, and add the sliced onion. Cook over low heat until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Avocado Spread

In a small bowl, mash the avocado with lime juice, salt, and pepper to taste. Set aside.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Sandwich

On each hoagie roll, spread a layer of the avocado spread, then layer the sliced chicken, caramelized onions, green chilies, beer cheese, and pepper jack cheese.

  6. 6

    Melt the Cheese

Place the assembled sandwiches under a broiler for about 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  7. 7

    Prepare Lime Sour Cream Drizzle

In a small bowl, mix sour cream with a little lime juice, salt, and pepper to taste.

  8. 8

    Serve

Drizzle the lime sour cream over the top of the sandwiches, garnish with cilantro, and serve warm.
