Torte Ingredients

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter together over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method). Stir until smooth and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Combine Sugar and Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until pale and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Mix Ingredients

Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring continuously to combine. Add in the vanilla extract, flour, cocoa powder, and salt, mixing until just incorporated.

  5. 5

    Bake the Torte

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  6. 6

    Cool and Serve

Allow the torte to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve with fresh strawberries on top.

  7. 7

    Prepare Chocolate Crumble (Optional)

For a chocolate crumble, mix 50g of flour, 25g of cocoa powder, 50g of sugar, and 50g of melted butter until crumbly. Bake for an additional 10 minutes at 180°C (350°F) and serve alongside.
