Directions
- 1
Prepare the Coffee Mixture
Brew the espresso or strong coffee and let it cool to room temperature. If desired, mix in the coffee liqueur.
- 2
Make the Mascarpone Mixture
In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks and granulated sugar together until pale and creamy. Add the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- 3
Whip the Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
- 4
Soak the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee mixture, making sure not to soak them too long, as they should remain firm.
- 5
Layer the Tiramisu
In a rectangular dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- 6
Chill the Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
- 7
Serve
Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with cocoa powder. Cut into squares and enjoy!
