Chicken Preparation
- 1
Prepare Chicken
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- 2
Bread the Chicken
Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off excess, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
- 3
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken breasts and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Assembling the Dish
- 4
Layer the Ingredients
In a baking dish, place the fried chicken breasts. Spoon marinara sauce over each piece, then sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan on top.
- 5
Bake the Chicken
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- 6
Garnish and Serve
Remove from the oven, sprinkle chopped fresh basil on top, and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
