Fries

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the Russet potatoes and cut them into fries, about 1/4 inch thick. Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  2. 2

    Dry the Fries

After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with a clean towel to remove excess moisture.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  4. 4

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the fries to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per batch. Avoid overcrowding the pot.

  5. 5

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil and drain on paper towels. While still hot, sprinkle with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss to coat evenly.

  6. 6

    Garnish (optional)

If desired, chop fresh parsley and sprinkle over the fries before serving for an added touch of flavor and color.
