Method

Frittata Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Chop the Canadian bacon into small pieces and set aside. Slice the onion thinly and chop the fresh thyme leaves.

  2. 2

    Caramelize the Onions

In a large oven-safe skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook, stirring frequently, for about 10-12 minutes until they are golden brown and caramelized.

  3. 3

    Add Bacon and Thyme

Add the chopped Canadian bacon and thyme to the skillet with the caramelized onions. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the bacon is heated through.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Egg Mixture

In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

  5. 5

    Combine and Cook

Pour the egg mixture into the skillet over the bacon and onions. Stir gently to combine. Cook on the stove for about 5 minutes until the edges start to set.

  6. 6

    Add Gruyere and Bake

Sprinkle the grated Gruyere cheese over the top of the frittata. Transfer the skillet to a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the frittata is set and the top is slightly golden.

Side Salad Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare the Salad

In a large bowl, combine the mixed greens, halved cherry tomatoes, and sliced cucumber.

  2. 8

    Dress the Salad

In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Drizzle the dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine.

Toasted Bread Preparation

  1. 9

    Toast the Bread

In a skillet or toaster, toast the slices of bread until golden brown. Spread softened butter on each slice before serving.
