Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese

Slice the smoked gouda and cheddar cheese into thin slices, ensuring they can melt evenly.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Bread

Take two slices of country bread. Optionally, you can lightly toast them for a minute to create a firmer base.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Butter the Bread

Spread 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.

  2. 4

    Assemble the Sandwich

Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, on a skillet. Layer the slices of smoked gouda and cheddar cheese on top, then cover with the second slice of bread, buttered side up.

  3. 5

    Grill the Sandwich

Heat the skillet over medium heat. Cook the sandwich for 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich and grill the other side for another 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.

Serving

  1. 6

    Slice and Serve

Once cooked, remove the sandwich from the skillet. Let it sit for a minute, then slice it in half. Serve hot.
