Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the New York strip steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps it cook more evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub the steak with olive oil, and then season generously with kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. If using, sprinkle fresh rosemary on both sides.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat (around 450-500°F or 230-260°C).

  4. 4

    Grill the Steak

Place the seasoned steak on the hot grill. Grill for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it.

  5. 5

    Flip and Continue Grilling

Flip the steak using tongs and grill for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare doneness. Adjust the time according to your preferred doneness.

  6. 6

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  7. 7

    Serve

Slice against the grain and serve with your choice of two sides.
