1. Juice the Lemons
Roll the lemons on a countertop to release the juices. Cut them in half and juice them using a citrus juicer or by hand. Strain the juice to remove seeds and pulp.
2. Make the Simple Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar completely dissolves. Remove from heat and let it cool.
3. Combine Ingredients
In a pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, the simple syrup, and the remaining 3 cups of water. Stir well to combine.
4. Serve
Fill glasses with ice cubes, pour the lemonade over the ice, and garnish with mint leaves if desired. Serve immediately.
