Base Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature while you prepare the batter.

  2. 2

    Prepare Baking Dish

Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray to prevent the graves from sticking.

Mixing Ingredients

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder until well combined.

  2. 4

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, cream the unsalted butter with the granulated sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.

  3. 5

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time to the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 6

    Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and finish with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  5. 7

    Fold in Nuts

Gently fold in the chopped nuts to the batter until evenly distributed.

Baking

  1. 8

    Pour Batter into Baking Dish

Pour the prepared batter into the greased baking dish and spread it evenly.

  2. 9

    Bake

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  3. 10

    Cool and Serve

Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool in the dish for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve.
