Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fish

Rinse the whitefish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. This helps to remove any excess moisture.

Coating

  1. 2

    Make the Coating Mixture

In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Mix well.

  2. 3

    Prepare the Egg Wash

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Coat the Fish

Dip each fillet first into the egg wash, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour-cornmeal mixture, ensuring an even coating.

  3. 6

    Fry the Fish

Carefully place the coated fillets into the hot oil. Fry for about 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Do not overcrowd the skillet; work in batches if necessary.

  4. 7

    Drain the Fish

Once cooked, remove the fish fillets and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve

Garnish the fried whitefish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the fish.
