Prepare the Fish
Rinse the whitefish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. This helps to remove any excess moisture.

Make the Coating Mixture
In a shallow dish, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Mix well.

Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Fish
Carefully place the coated fillets into the hot oil. Fry for about 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through. Do not overcrowd the skillet; work in batches if necessary.

Once cooked, remove the fish fillets and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
