Cake Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven and Pans

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-4 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

  6. 6

    Pour and Bake

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool the Cakes

Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

  8. 8

    Prepare Frosting

In a medium bowl, beat the powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract together until smooth and fluffy.

  9. 9

    Assemble the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, spread frosting on top of one layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the cake.

  10. 10

    Serve

Slice and enjoy your sweet cake!
