Preparation of Tortilla Chips

Cut Tortillas
Cut each corn tortilla into 6 triangles to form chips.

Heat Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

Fry Chips
Fry the tortilla triangles in batches until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.

Drain and Season
Remove the chips with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Immediately sprinkle with salt while still hot.
Cooking the Toppings

Cook Ground Beef
In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

Add Seasoning
Stir in the taco seasoning and a splash of water. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the seasoning is well mixed.

Prep Vegetables
While the beef is cooking, chop the tomatoes, green peppers, and onions, and set aside.
Assembly

Layer Chips
On a large serving platter, create a bed of the homemade tortilla chips.

Add Toppings
Evenly distribute the cooked ground beef and diced ham over the chips.

Top with chopped tomatoes, green peppers, sliced jalapenos, and diced onions.

Finally, sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the loaded chips.
