Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well blended.

Mixing

  1. 3

    Melt Butter

In a saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  2. 4

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

  4. 6

    Add Optional Ingredients

If desired, fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts until evenly distributed.

Baking

  1. 7

    Pour the Batter

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

  2. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  3. 9

    Cool and Serve

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.
