Method

For the Mozzarella Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare the Breading Station

Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs mixed with milk, and one with bread crumbs mixed with Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Bread the Mozzarella Sticks

Dip each mozzarella cheese stick first in the flour, ensuring it is coated evenly. Then, dip it into the egg mixture, letting any excess drip off. Finally, roll it in the bread crumb mixture, pressing lightly to adhere. Repeat with all cheese sticks.

  3. 3

    Chill the Coated Sticks

Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes. This helps the coating adhere when frying.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Ensure there is enough oil to fully submerge the mozzarella sticks.

  5. 5

    Fry the Mozzarella Sticks

Fry the frozen mozzarella sticks in batches, cooking for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

For the Marinara Sauce

  1. 6

    Cook the Marinara Sauce

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 7

    Add Tomatoes and Spices

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 8

    Serve

Remove the marinara sauce from heat and serve warm alongside the fried mozzarella sticks.
