Serving Suggestions

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare Ramekins

Grease four 6-ounce ramekins with butter and dust with flour, knocking out the excess flour. Set aside.

Making the Batter

  1. 3

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan, melt the unsweetened chocolate and unsalted butter over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  2. 4

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, eggs, and egg yolks until well combined. Stir in the melted chocolate mixture and vanilla extract.

  3. 5

    Add Flour and Salt

Gently fold in the all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Baking the Cakes

  1. 6

    Pour into Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 2/3 full.

  2. 7

    Bake

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft.

  3. 8

    Cool Slightly

Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool for 1 minute, then run a knife around the edges to loosen them.

Serving

  1. 9

    Invert and Serve

Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate and let it sit for a few seconds before lifting off. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with vanilla ice cream if desired.
