Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Clams

Rinse the whole clams under cold water to remove any sand or grit. Discard any clams that are open and do not close when tapped.

  2. 2

    Mince the Garlic

Peel and chop the garlic cloves finely. This will enhance the flavor of the dish.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Parsley

Wash and chop the fresh parsley leaves finely for garnish.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Lemon

Cut the lemon in half and set aside for squeezing over the clams before serving.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Sauté the Garlic

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.

  2. 6

    Add the Clams

Add the cleaned whole clams to the pot and stir to combine with the garlic and oil.

  3. 7

    Deglaze with White Wine

Pour in the white wine, increase the heat to high, and cover the pot. Steam the clams for 5-7 minutes, or until they open up.

  4. 8

    Season the Clams

Once the clams have opened, add salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes to taste. Stir well to combine.

  5. 9

    Garnish and Serve

Remove the pot from heat, sprinkle the chopped parsley over the clams, and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
