Method

For the Au Jus

  1. 1

    Prepare the Au Jus

In a medium saucepan, combine the beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Let simmer for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Remove from heat and set aside.

For the French Dip Sandwich

  1. 2

    Prepare the Sandwich

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Butter the outer sides of the French rolls. Place the rolls on the grill, cut side down, and toast until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.

  2. 3

    Assemble the Sandwich

Layer the roast beef evenly inside each toasted French roll and top with Swiss cheese. Close the rolls gently.

  3. 4

    Heat the Sandwich

Return the sandwiches to the grill for another 2-3 minutes, just until the cheese melts. Remove from heat.

For the French Fries

  1. 5

    Cook the French Fries

Bake or fry the frozen French fries according to package instructions until crispy and golden brown. Season with salt to taste.
