Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Shrimp
Rinse the large shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Set aside.
- 2
Season the Shrimp
In a bowl, combine the garlic powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Sprinkle this seasoning mixture evenly over the shrimp, ensuring they are well coated.
Batter
- 3
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and cornstarch. Add the cold water and the egg, whisking until a smooth batter forms. The batter should be thick enough to coat the shrimp.
Frying
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Shrimp
Dip each seasoned shrimp into the batter, allowing excess batter to drip off. Carefully place the battered shrimp into the hot oil. Fry in batches, without overcrowding, for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the shrimp and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serving
- 6
Garnish and Serve
Arrange the fried shrimp on a serving platter. Garnish with lemon wedges and chopped fresh parsley. Serve hot and enjoy!
