Clam Strips
Method
Preparation
- 1
Clean and Prepare the Clams
Rinse the fresh clams under cold running water to remove any sand or grit. Drain and set aside.
- 2
Make the Breading Mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well.
- 3
- 4
Prepare the Breadcrumbs
Place the breadcrumbs in a shallow dish or plate for easy coating.
Cooking
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a large frying pan or deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Coat the Clams
Take a clam, dip it into the flour mixture, ensuring it is coated evenly. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it in the breadcrumbs. Repeat for all clams.
- 7
Fry the Clam Strips
Carefully place the coated clam strips into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 8
Drain and Serve
Once fried, remove the clam strips from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with lemon wedges.
