Cheese Sticks

Method

Cheese Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese Sticks

Cut the mozzarella cheese sticks in half if desired for shorter sticks. This will make them easier to handle and eat.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate bowls, place the all-purpose flour in the first bowl, beat the eggs in the second bowl, and mix the breadcrumbs, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder in the third bowl.

  3. 3

    Bread the Cheese Sticks

Dip each mozzarella stick in the flour, making sure to coat it completely. Shake off any excess flour. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, allowing the excess to drip off, then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until fully covered. Repeat for all cheese sticks.

  4. 4

    Fry the Cheese Sticks

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the oil over medium heat. Once hot (about 350°F or 175°C), carefully add the breaded cheese sticks in batches. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove them from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 5

    Cook the Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 6

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 7

    Finish the Sauce

Remove from heat and stir in the chopped fresh basil. Adjust seasoning to taste.
