Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, combine the buttermilk, egg, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; it's okay if there are a few lumps.

  2. 4

    Preheat Griddle

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease with a little butter or oil.

  3. 5

    Cook Pancakes

Pour about 1/4 cup of the batter onto the hot skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, until golden brown.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve

Serve the pancakes warm, topped with butter and maple syrup to taste.
