Tofu
Jasmine Rice
Method
Tofu Preparation
- 1
Press the Tofu
Wrap the firm tofu in a clean kitchen towel or paper towels, place it on a plate, and weigh it down with another plate to press out excess moisture. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
- 2
Cut the Tofu
After pressing, cut the tofu into cubes (about 1-inch size).
- 3
Marinate the Tofu
In a bowl, combine soy sauce, garlic powder, and ground ginger. Add the cubed tofu to the marinade and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even coating.
- 4
Cook the Tofu
Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the marinated tofu cubes. Cook for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown on all sides.
- 5
Garnish and Serve
Once cooked, remove the tofu from heat. Chop green onions and sprinkle over the tofu along with sesame seeds. Set aside.
Jasmine Rice Preparation
- 6
Rinse the Rice
Place jasmine rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear, to remove excess starch.
- 7
Cook the Rice
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until the water is absorbed.
