Marinade

Method

Marinating the Beef

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, combine soy sauce, minced garlic, black pepper, honey, and vegetable oil.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the flank steak in the marinade and let it sit for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.

Cooking the Beef

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet or wok, heat over high heat until hot.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

Remove the steak from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and add it to the hot pan. Sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is achieved.

  3. 5

    Add Marinade

During the last minute of cooking, pour the reserved marinade over the steak and let it bubble and thicken slightly.

Assembling the Dish

  1. 6

    Prepare the Vegetable Bed

On a large serving platter, lay down the shredded lettuce, followed by sliced cucumber, red onion, and diced tomato.

  2. 7

    Slice the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.

  3. 8

    Serve

Place the sliced steak on top of the vegetable bed and sprinkle ground peanuts over the dish. Serve immediately.
